Unite 2 Week 2 – Answers (word document)

I went ahead and did the workout on Friday but definitely didn’t go all out.  We did 8 minute interval swim, bike (stationary), track and I felt really well running on the track for being pretty sick, the swim was ok except I think I need new goggles as the pair I have let water in a ton.  Biking was alright but I am definitely not used to climbing with increased resistance.    All in all it was a decent week but still feeling pretty out of the weather.  Now to get rested up and feeling good so I can do hill sprints/repeats on Monday morning.

I will be working on a proposal to establish a SITPB like http://sipb.mit.edu/.  It wouldn’t, IMO, require a lot of funds as it would be all student volunteers, but could provide a lot of the services and flexibility as well as control over student web services that students really need.  It would also start to centralize our campuses student techies and really provide a home and starting point for new students interested in working in IT.  The depth and breadth of this program would be the extent to what ideas and projects students want to create.

Also I just made a protocol scholar feature for labs, a lot of our labs currently display protocols on their site so it seemed natural to create a feature for it.

So, I just found out how to make macromolecular structures in maya with pdb files, time for some awesome flashness to begin for some intros for the new Genetics IT site.  Based off the amazing design company 2advanced studios www.2advanced.com, I hope to have a simple drupal theme and a flash theme to demo soon.

In other news I will be revamping creatingamoralfoundation website into a social networking development site for bioethics and modern moral questions, by using social devices in facebook, myspace, twitter and others as well as advertising through these mediums.

There were a few questions about getting NetID authentication working, I will try putting a web cast together on how the genetics department implemented NetID authentication.  For now I have a short article here on our process.
